Diamond - Jina Wallwork

We all have our own personal struggle. The world unleashes hardship and we are changed by the journey we travel. We find hidden resources deep within us and it allows us to carry on. We become strong and beautiful, like a diamond forged by external pressures.

In times of difficulty we become angry and frustrated. It is hard to see the beauty of a lesson until it has been overcome. In hindsight, we can see how our personal struggle allowed us to recognize our own strength and beauty. The rich colors of life become more visible as time passes by. Lessons are a gift that is disguised as a nightmare. Eventually we open our eyes and see them for what they really are.

Competitive Strategy

Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU)
Competitive Strategy,2013

I recently completed the Competitive Strategy course from LMU. I received a statement of accomplishment with distinction. This course was made available through the Coursera platform. It is a great place to find courses from many different universities.

The course was really enjoyable, full of real world examples. I'm just starting an economics module as part of my degree and it made me feel less nervous and more excited.

The Trailblazer

The Trailblazer - Jina Wallwork
He overcame every obstacle. Impossibility has become void of all meaning, because a path has been forged by the intensity of his own personal vision. He runs through the landscape shaping it to accommodate his own journey. I watch with amazement stunned by his capacity to succeed in such a hostile environment.

There is a pathway now open and I hesitate as I consider all that I have seen. I didn't know the world could allow space for such an achievement. It shakes my understanding and I feel refreshed. The path he has opened has become crowded. They stand impatient and frustrated and it breeds hostility. There is no space to walk this path, because it belongs only to him.

I can see the fire burning within him. There is a passion that has overwhelmed any difficulties. I don’t need his path and I don’t need his fire, because I have my own. The greatest gift a trailblazer can deliver is a reminder of your own fire and the inspiration to ignite.

Art and Inquiry

MoMA (Museum of Modern Art)
Art and Inquiry: Museum Teaching Strategies For Your Classroom, 2013

I'm not a teacher but this course made me incredibly curious. I've studied with the MoMA before and was really impressed. This course was made available for free through the Coursera platform.

I decided to take participate in the course for a number of different reasons. I have never completely ruled out the idea of teaching art in some capacity. secondly, I think its important to understand how art is used in conversation; how is a visual language developed and understood. Also, I wanted to know more about the MoMA, because I think its important for artists to understand how art galleries operate.

The course was thoroughly enjoyable. It showed how inquiry based teaching methods can encourage a greater dialogue. The technique uses open ended questions to explore peoples ideas and make them more comfortable in expressing them. It is a conversational tool and a learning tool. I have learned many new skills that could be adapted to a range of circumstances, not just classroom teaching. My grade was 95% I therefore received a 'Statement of accomplishment with distinction'.
