Greener - Jina Wallwork

I can see your beautiful green grass. It camouflages the soil completely. I cannot see your sweat deep within the earth, because I wasn't present when you prepared your ground. I can only see these beautiful results. If I could see the dedication, perseverance and struggle, I would feel no jealousy. Instead, I only see a grass that is greener than my own. With a superficial glance I imagine that your results came with great ease. I cannot see the fallen tears within the soil, because I was not there when you were frustrated by your difficulties. I cannot see the sacrifices you have made; I am blind to your journey. I can only see this moment and the success you have obtained. You could explain the struggle but I wouldn't listen, because it would only irritate me further. It would sound like a complaint. You would seem ungrateful of all you have achieved, moaning about the slightest obstacle that you have now overcome. Whinging about something I have always desired, but will never have. It would make my jealousy so much larger. You cannot explain your process because I wouldn't understand. You cannot share your journey with me. Your life is better; your grass is greener.

Shock - Jina Wallwork

It is such a wonderful awakening. Stale ideas shake nervously into nothing, while accepting their fate. We perceive the truth of a situation and we begin the process of accommodating our newly obtained knowledge. Beliefs and illusions fall away, replaced by a higher awareness. A complete shift of perception leads us to a better understanding of what the world really is. We are blessed with an additional piece of the puzzle, because we have been touched by truth. Lies only reveal what you expect to hear, but truth is electric. It demands your attention and you cannot ignore the sensation of its presence. Lies will always lead to stagnation. Truth is an unstoppable force that changes everything.

The Claws of a Mountain

The Claws of a Mountain - Jina Wallwork

There are some challenges that invite our presence. We are tempted by the view from the peak of the mountain. It exists within our imagination and we seek the dream. As we begin the climb our hands grip firmly into the rock face, while we focus on the result of the climb.

The claws of the mountain scratch our skin and our muscles ache from the constant effort. Focusing on an imagined dream is not enough to sustain the momentum needed for this difficult journey. Many fantasies are discarded as the climber returns to the foot of the mountain.

The person who focuses on a dream will not attain great heights. It is the climber that will always travel the furthest. They continue despite all the scratches, you could imagine that they continue out of dedication to a final result. Instead, they persist because it is who they are; it is what they do. Outcomes are irrelevant because this is their life. The peak of the mountain is out of focus, because the climber is concentrating on the next piece of rock. They do not imagine the sights visible from the peak, because they are watching the view alter with every step. They do not wish to know the outcome; they want to know the mountain.
